Home on the range

I recently went home to visit my family. I ended up taking pictures on this beautiful partly clouded day with my dad.

Those Rocky Mountains are ones to be nostalgic for.

Composites

I took this photograph while backpacking in Eagle Creek. This is one of the many rivers on the trail. I decided to have a little fun with it. As the river departs and collides, arranging the photograph made sense to me.  Like the water, I feel as if I move together and apart with everything.

A composite of trees and the female figure.

This photograph was taken by Rachel Deehan and edited by myself. Another composite of the female figure.

Missing Parts

Sometimes I feel that I am missing parts.
Parts of places
Parts of my hands,
that make my imagination

Parts that build
Parts that hold,
my ideas into place

But,
These gaps have a purpose
Gaps of hurt
Gaps of destruction,
that are filled with infinite space

Connections

During my last session at Brooks Institute I was working on this project. I traveled with a good friend up the California coast to Santa Cruz, and inland to Pleasanton where the rolling hills were a vibrant green. While I was there, I couldn't stop thinking about how the landscape inspired the artwork of my roommate Rachel, who grew up in the area.

This piece is a series of images that were traced and then painted. It symbolizes the connection any human can have with their surroundings, and how we are truly part of the land we live on.

Dreamy

Simply the sound of the Earth may be enough for my ears to hear. My life is a dream, a fantasy come true.

Strange Travels

Another stranger passing by,
The wheels are turning and light sunrising
Another stranger is another friend,
And if I could pause to feel the air
I would realize,
I am home,
Everywhere.
